Hi I thought I would add this so anyone who is fed up with their discovery 1 being rotten and has had the idea what if a d2 shell will fit, I came up with this plan about a year ago so decided to give it a bash but couldnt find any info on if it was even possible but gave it a go anyway, found a nice body and today on it slipped with virtually no problems with the mounts other than the d2 has a couple more than a d1 and the rear two mounts will need a spacer made between the chassis and the body mount but really thats it, oh yeah other than the moumtain of wiring to sort through and maybe some other things I have not come across yet but if anyone is interested I can post progress but its going to take some time.

And some pics

I too am going to be doing a similar conversion ,already got most parts to do apart from time, but I'm putting disco 2 body on a rrc chassis 300 tdi engine manual box .how hard was body removal?

Hi there the body came off relatively easy in around 4hrs between 3 of us two working on engine bay and I sorted the body mounts and gear levers etc. We put the new body on in 2 or 3 hours but we had to be a bit more careful with that. The only issue at the moment is the rear two mounts will need a bobbin spacer with a long bolt all the way through

Would have been good to have seen more of this! Probably a great conversion and would be good to see it well documented - or it all got a bit mental and nothing else happened hence no more posts.

It was 4 years ago so...

I wanted to do this, rang some people who do some interesting work but they weren’t one bit interested so just went for a whole D2 instead. Would be nice to have a plush D2 body on the basic mechanics of a 300tdi though!
