Hi there

I have a 2001 Discovery 2 and I am having issues with the air suspension. It was very low at the back and I traced it down to the fuse under the bonnet. I replaced the fuse and the SLS worked for about 2 weeks. Then I noticed it wasn't raising again so I checked the fuse but it was fine. I looked like it was dropping very slightly on one side so I changed the air bags but still no luck. Garage told me the compressor was the problem so purchased one (used) and fitted it but still no luck.

When I turn the engine on there doesn't seem to be any action from the compressor at all but when I switch it off it produces a clicking noise for a few minutes but no air. The old compressor did the same except it sounded as if it was producing air. It was only short sharp bursts but did nothing to the ride height of the car.

Has anybody come across this problem before?

Any help would be much appreciated - I am now lost for ideas.

Cheers

I have a brief update. I re-installed the old comrpessor and checked there was air coming out of the air pipe into the valve block. The passenger side bag is ever so slightly filling up with air but not enough to raise the back end noticeably. The drivers side air bag is as flat as a pancake and has no air at all. I tried lifting each of the axles to fool the sensor but no luck.

I checked the bags again and the air pipe connectors and they seem ok.

I also swapped the valve block from the 'spare' compressor and that didnt help either.

Any ideas at all?

Thank you
B

Hi there, thanks for the reply. And apologies for not introducing myself, very rude I know, but I am a bit desperate as I am travelling tomorrow and was hoping to fix the problem today otherwise it's a BIG taxi fare to Gatwick!!

Anyway, my name is Ben and this is my first Land Rover. I've had it for 4 weeks and it has been road worthy 50% of the time lol ;-)

In response to your suggestions I have replaced the air bags and checked all the pipes as I mention to no avail. I have read most if not all of the threads on the forum before posting but cannot get this nailed down hence I am asking, graciously, for help.

Cheers

You need to find someone with appropiate diagnostic kit to check the Body control module for codes,I am presuming your sls warning light is lit ?

Thank HenryD.
The odd thing is that the warning light isn't on!! I will get it booked in to a garage I think.
I will update the thread when it's fixed in case other ever have the same problem.
Thanks again

Shot in the dark and won't cost you anything

found my SLS relay , (under the bonnet fuse box beside the battery) was also faulty.
Might be worth swapping one to test it, use the headlight washer one though, not the one marked SM, or the Disco won't start.

Good luck

Thanks Bigeeeee, just returned from my travels and tried the relay but still no luck, worth a go!

Time to let the pros take a look I think

Cheers
