Well i was reading this months LRO And they said Models with limited ground clearance Like Discovery 1 RRC & Freelander, Now i know the Freelander has limited clearance ** But can still get about ** :D. But is the Disco & RRC not the same hight as a 90/110 with no lift-kit on it ??..

well defenders come as standard with bigger tyres than the disco
 
I thought they was the same hight as 90's/110's learn something new everyday lol.. i want more clearance but still thinking about a lift-kit with 265/85/16's but i still want it to hold the road good
 
Yet again, a roll bar is turd for off road.

It's all a big compromise!!

Fit 31" tyres with a 7x15 and a 40mm lift and then you'll have a good setup. I guess any more and it's gonna get too rolly...

Why not try 31 x 10.5 R15. You may have to to trim the rear wheel arches a little. That gives more clearance for the axles.
However, if you need traction in mud, then fit mud terrains. If you want road holding, fit road tyres. Anything else is a compromise.
Lifting kits will give more roll as had already been pointed out. What level of off-road work do you actually do? You might get a more useful response if you can clarify the last question.

I do green lanes pay n play but i wanna do the more extreme stuff now

So i want a good little set up to get the diffs off the ground more and to still be ok for motoway speeds and hold the road ok
 
I got 31 x 12.5 15s with stock suspension
Took plenty of chopping and the need for big arches mind you!

Best idea to have 1 set of mud terrains for off road. Anything else will not give you the same performance. Check out the tyre sticky on alterations required for the different sizes.
The other set you can keep for road use, i.e. road tyres.
I am not convinced a lift kit is a useful option.
 
235/70/16's on alloys for road use and 235/70/16's insa sahara's on steel disco wheels for offroading. no rear anti roll bar and she handles fine on or off road. though she does "bang" a bit over speed bumps.
