Wow, big job!

New chassis or just replacement?

Seems galv chassis is getting popular on D2 these days...

yes it was deemed better to replace rather than repair,to much crumbly stuff on the chassis,or what was left of it.not a new one but a very very good used one which has been properly prepped and treated by JM.

and came up with galvanised :D

When you say Prepped and Treated??... expound sir... :)

Odds and Sods weekend this weekend. Now all the mechanicals are back in I've started touching up and fillin the body work. Put the wings back on and repaired the drivers side arch, which looked like this

although this isn't the best picture as I actually cut out about a 1/3 of the way up since this was taken. You can still see where it had rusted up in the join. The lip where the door seal clips on had completely rusted and there was a lot of filler in there hench why I got it all out and squared it of. Cut and welded in a new bit and replaced the lip. Started touching it up with filler yesterday and then the rain came so had to stop.... but very pleased with the finish as it was all 1mm plate and I only blew through twice with the welder.

Other jobs i got round to was seam sealing everywhere and replacing the ignition. I will order the paint his week and continue the touch up. Got a roof repair to carry out then It'll be painting and MOT... Once I have moved I plan to re trim the front seats and make a new rear door panel. Also there is the construction of the new bumpers, for now I may have to put the old front one back on so I have somewhere for the number plate to go... and then theres is the door springs and tinting the windows and... and on and on and on.....

Anyway so close to the end now in terms of getting her back on the road can't wait... :D

Need to do to OSR arch myself and sill... Very soon!! Any other pics of progression of the job?

My advice to you is cut one part off at a time, find reference points to measure off to check the new bit's are in the right place. With your arch try and leave your door on for the outer arch to make sure it doesn't catch when shutting. What are you using for your sill?

No not so far, I did it last weekend and it was really threatening to rain so I just got on as quick as I could. It was only once i had cleaned up the welds and started the filler that I thought... bum I should have photographed that before I started... Sorry. :(

Basically, where the arch runs along the lip that the door seal fixes to was rusting. When I gave it a prod it turned out someone had been there before and used A LOT of filler. So I cut it out about 1/3 of the way up the wing. I then used card and cut every little shape I needed and bit by bit cut out 1mm steel shapes with the jigsaw. I have covered it will filler just to smooth it. I'm away this weekend but when i get back to it I'll up date with some pics before i finish and paint.....

Wasn't sure if you were asking me but this is what I used....

Althougth the last one is a little fuzzy you can see the state of the arch .... just. :D

So u can cut sill away without touching the floor? Did u make new body mounts/outriggers? Bet ur missus is made up with the mess uve made of that path! Haha

Yes. If your floor is solid leave it be. I did pretty much the same as 700 on my Rangy. It's easier to weld the body mounts onto the sill before welding it into the car. There should be a link at the bottom of my post of the rebuild I am doing to my RRC
