Getting my o/s rear quarter off ....

Are these rivets? And do they need to be drilled out to get panel off?

I've undone screws and bolts and cut through sticky stuff but I am stuck at this point.

Any body help ?

right. home now, just been searching.

looks like I'll need to disconnect fuel pipe from under car.

Anyone know about those rivets ??

They certainly look like rivets; that being the case whack the head off the rivet with a sharp flat blade/chisel and jobs a good'un!

Yes, they are rivets. You'll need to drill those out.

Be REALLY gentle when you do this job if you want to reuse the panel. Start at the door end and work your way backwards towards the rear of the car.
There are shed loads of bolts inside and a couple hiding in the wheel arch.
There are also a few self tappers to wind out which you'll spot when you open the tailgate.
You should also remove the rear E post speaker as you'll need to drill out two rivets holding that bracket onto the car.

Hi MGB.....

I've found all the screws and bolts, it was the rivets that threw me. Thanks for info, Ill drill them out next time im working on it early next week and post the piccies in my main thread.

Yes rivets, drilling the heads off will be less likely to damage than a chisel.

I have posted some photos on the rear quarter sealant thread which may help.

I still ended up twisting the hose clamps off to remove them even after wire brushing and soaking with penetrating oil for a couple of days. :(

good piccies.

I found the two screws, and there were two bolts too. dunno what they were bolted to, .......so they got taken off as well. !!!

I'm thinking of using a wallpaper scraper to get between panels.

keep up the piccies and info on yer thread, as you progress.

Take the teeth off of a hacksaw blade and give it a slight 'edge', that'll do it ...

Oops! sorry the bolts were listed in the manual it was the screws that were the extras. Should be three bolts there I think…will check.

Have you got a copy of the manual? I am sure I have seen it posted somewhere, I can photograph the relevant pages if you cannot find the .pdf…
