reet, snapped me spare wheel carrier bolts orf and only had one left one there last year, just welded 2 new newbolts on and..............when i put wheel nuts on they dont hold me spare tight against the back plate leaving it to jangle about.
now.........before anyone askes the new hub bolts i welded on are the same as the origional thats always been on there and didnt snap, so that rules the legnth out.
now the only way i can sort this is by placing a quarter inch collor behind the wheel on the bolt to take the play up but whats buggin me is.......
was there different wheel nuts to keep the spare on with? or was there origionally collors already on there? spare has been off that long i cant remember:confused:

Yes.. The alloy 'road' wheel nut is different from the alloy spare wheel nut I think it has a longer thread although outwardly they look the same.
The part no's are different also and as usual depends on the VIN number.

Regards

yer thats how it appears, so i need to find the correct spare wheel carrier nuts? if not just put some collers on behind the wheel to take up the space?
next question.................think yer can see where this is going,
ANYBODY GOT ANY SPARE WHEEL CARRIER NUTS???
cheers discool;)

no mate, the nuts arnt long enough as it is, there too short and stop turning when there is still slack preventing the wheel from becoming tight against the carrier. kind hard to explain. if anything the nuts need to be longer.

eh?.....
whats stopping the nuts from going on all the way? it can either be the studs nut threaded all the way or a domed cap/end on yer nut so the stud cannot physically go any furthur through the nut.
am assuming yer studs have a long enough freded bit so you need to remove the blockage from the nut

no blockage in the nut, its proper weird, like am using the wrong nuts as they are too short, the origionals have been well lost by now and i was trying to put me spare back on with the norm wheels nuts and thats when i came across this prob but i though they where all the same?

the rusty set of nuts will go all the way down the stud.
and the shiney ones with the dome can't

so if yer cut the dome off nor drill through it yule be able to tighten them up

arrrrrrrrrr, i thought yer meant the dome bit at the end that meets the alloy wheel, not the top. cheers slob, the whizzer is at the ready!!!
still think its weird whats happend, cause the studs i replaced and welded on are the same length as the origional what was left?

**** yer, i blame it one the medicashun!! come to think of it, i dont think me spare wheel carrier bolts had a dome at the top? i think they where strait though to begin with.
