Hi, what would you do? Have you ever owned both? Just sold my 90 county td, but what next? My needs = Muddy dog, muddy boots, horse feeds, no water in my field so water containers (but will need to pull a water bowser soon) across a v v muddy field, roll and harrow my field, Me + one most of the time (&dog), but it's also my daily driver so maybe a bit of luxury & cleanliness would be nice for a change. Can a disco be as practical as a defender without wrecking it? Was pretty much decided on a disco at least for now, i dont want to spend a great deal as the remainder is earmarked for a horsebox, but then saw a L reg 200 quite cheap, it's a hard top though which i didn't really want but should i compromise? But why is it so cheap! The disco insurance is about £100+ more than a 90 but about £2000 cheaper (apart from the one i've just seen) to buy than a 200 90!(never buy a td again) If it wasn't for the horsebox money i would be looking at aound £5000 for a nice 90 county but was going to compremise at about £2-2500 for an m reg ish disco. What to do, what to do??!?!? Please help!
(sorry if you've already seen this, i put it in 3 catagories for max feedback!)

Go for the Disco, its just as capable as the 90 but a lot more refined. Shop around and for 2500 you should find a 300tdi.

my best mates family have a farm, are constantly taking cattle to market, towing across fields, pulling big display trailers / catering vans, cross fields for feeding cattle etc. and they always had 90's and 110's - untill about 3 years ago when they got rid of the normal car and the landies and bought a pair of discoveries.

so long as your not planning on anything daft off road and have decent tyres (i found this to my cost last week) the muddy fields shouldn't prove a problem. they recommended i get one as i was planning on keeping my car and buying a 90 but they said to buy a decent disco and stick the rest of the cash towards a new rifle instead!!!!

IMO great compromise cars - can go everywhere i need it to (i do pest controlling so use it on a lot of farmland) and gives me as much car-like performance as i'd want from a car but without the acceleration.

Yeah, thanks for the toughts, will prob be a disco. Prob be a diff story if i wasn't getting a horsebox but something has to give! But i have been told i'd be better to get a late 200 rather than an early 300 as the early ones had a few problems!!?

By now any problems with an early 300 should have been fixed.
