Ok yes call me stupid!! this is probably obvious to many but evidently not to me. I just had my rear drive shaft off to replace the rotoflex coupling, while it was off I tried to move the car but the front driveshaft wouldnt turn I tried diff lock engaged still nothing. I am now conerned I may have damaged the transfer case... I am waiting for parts for the rear prop shaft but can anyone make me feel better about the likleyhood of having damaged the transfer case ... will everything be ok once I reinstall the rear prop shaft..... yes I do feel rather stupid for asking this....

Having the prop off won't have damaged anything, the output flange will spin that's about it but you should have drive to the front with difflock engaged.

With no resistance on the rear output of the transfer case it will be difficult to get the cdl to lock up. Don't just keep giving it revs to try and make it happen, that's the number one way these t cases die.

Unless you have tried VERY Hard, you won't have damaged anything in the tranny box. Just get your parts for the rear prop and re-install and you'll be fine.

Thanks to everyone , I wasnt game to put the welly in and I tried it for about 15 seconds and gave up.. so all should be good,,, at the moment I got more problems than I can point a stick at since I pulled the motor on the weekend to remedy a rear main oil seal... but what I found will have to be another post but I thinks its heads win or rather heads win I lose...

Also, if you don't have diff lock in, you might find that your hand brake doesn't work!!

I agree.
The centre diff lock should have locked almost instantly with a prop off. ( with it engaged that is ).
