any one know how to remove top bolt to take engine out of old disco if there is a bolt ?
If it's previously had the clutch done then it's probably not there. Getting it off is one thing, getting it back on is almost impossibleany one know how to remove top bolt to take engine out of old disco if there is a bolt ?

Are you stripping it?and there doesunt seem to be a way for the wobely to go .did all the others with it !
Guy who had my D1 before me was thinking like you. When I got it most of the bolts were loose and a few had snapped off it's a wonder to me the gearbox and engine were still together, wasn't much holding them.I like my knuckles so I left it off
Agree. When i remowed my box (it is a td5) those bolts were not so bad to remove. If you lower the gearbox side of the whole unit a bit you can get access to to top bolts. The top bolt isn't too bad on a TD5 but perhaps it is harder on the TDi engines.
Definitely. I remember bending the drivers side one back and decided to come back to the passenger side one, but I can't remember if I ever did.Agree. For me the worst part was to bend the tabs back when i put back the gearbox.
in my case the right side was not bent back....I gave up fighting with that Next time I have to do something there I will remove that cooling pipe anyway.Definitely. I remember bending the drivers side one back and decided to come back to the passenger side one, but I can't remember if I ever did.
bending them both slightly is by far the easiest wayin my case the right side was not bent back....I gave up fighting with that Next time I have to do something there I will remove that cooling pipe anyway.
I guess it was designed to remove first the whole cooler pipe which held by those tabs and only after separate the box from the engine.
They are on the TD5. I apologise for sidetracking. Can you get your hand up to the top of the gearbox? Have you taken the centre console out? If the gearbox is lowered as much as possible and then you look with a light source from the back of the car then you might be able to see the top bolts.there were no tabs top left & right but i cant even tell if there is top bolt in !
