Disco to 90 Transfer box change?

I bought a discovery box and 're built it and it's just a year since I installed it. It changes the way the defender drives first gear is now useable and fith has become like an overdrive gear.
It lowers the noise level quite a bit when cruising. Mine did not have an electrical connection for the plug which tells the ecu if it is high low ratio but it is not a problem to me.

Rough maths suggests that changing from a 1.4 to a 1.22 will give a 14% gain, which in reality will mean that at the revs you were doing at 70mph you will then be doing 80mph. Sounds like a reasonable gain.
When I fitted mine I gained an indicated 8mph for the same revs in 5th. This means that I can now sit at an indicated 50mph at 2000rpm and and indicated 75mph and 3000rpm (although on the sat nav this is actually nearer 70) This means that most of the time sat at 60-65 is far more comfortable and nothing is working as hard. Although as stated it does make 1st gear a little high if pulling away with a fully loaded trailer, however that is what low range is for. You very quickly develop the double de-clutching skills needed to pull off in low and change into high on the move.

Managed to get the speedo drive out of the disco box. It just levered out with a terminal screwdriver. Assuming I can get the one out of my trattor box, will it fit straight into the disco box or does the gear that drives it need to be changed as well?

Thats fine, mine doesn’t have an ecu, I know if i am in high or low by the position of the lever lol

I usually tell by the speed and the revs............first 100 yards off my drive can be slow and noisy...until me old brain engages....LOL.

Cheers.

the shaft worm is the same for all so just change the speedo drive

@Paul D
Did you change the transfer worm drive?
Just done mine. You can pull the speedo drive out but mine was stuck. Did split the back off & made sure I could change it in the future.
Changed the drive so I can run my 750s

Saving up for the x-eng conversion
