Hi, iam looking at buying a 2.0 MPI disco and converting to LPG, anybody on here converted their disco to LPG, is so which kit?

Mine has a Landi Renzo conversion on it. Seems Ok although I am now seriously considering swapping to a diesel because the tanks are strapped underneath the vehicle and whilst driving through some forest in Scotland I became concerned about damage to the tanks due to rough terrain.

Both our's use a single point injection unit (the cheaper type) but have so far been excellent (three holidays to cornwall, 720miles round trips, plus normal driving etc)

Both are underslung units, with one also having the original fuel tank replaced with two 40ltr tanks and a smaller 4gallon unleaded tank.

regards

what wrong with the 2MPI then? Im not planning on climbing the side of a mountain so big engine not a problem. Must admit would have prefered a TDi to run on used veg oil, but maybe next time.

ours our both 3.9 models.

Main problem i've read with the 2.0MPI is the lack of power for a car so heavy - having never driven one, i can't comment

you know I think you hit the nail on the head, most persons critising the mpi probably havent driven one. Also it depends where you are coming from. That is i'm heavily into VW campers, hence the login name. I have just come back from 2 weeks in france with tent, kids, bicycle, trailer etc etc in a 1600 34bhp camper, got me around and did what i needed. The landorver mpi is 134bhp, so you can see a step up in power. Now I know the weight of the landrover is fairly heavy, however the old Vw's arent light either, so still an increase in BHP. Also the MPI is giving me 26 to 28 MPG and cost £800 for an L plate, I wouldn't get a TDi for that money and they only do the same MPG, so what the problem. and finaly not really intending on scaling a mountain in mine, so it suits me fine!

I'm bascailly running it cos it cheap and if I like it I will get a TDI, only cos I want to use Bio Diesel.
