Looks a lot better at the 'right' height .. ;)

Whilst you're there with easy (ish) access, obviously it can't be refitted with the ARB's anyway, so I'd suggest you remove all traces of them from the chassis and axle ... When mine went through the last MOT I'd forgot to put them back on and it failed! Where a vehicle originally has AntiRollBars fitted it must have them to pass, apparently!

'course, if you have a 'tame' or friendlt mot man this might be a moot point.

Dunno if others have had this issue or whether it's just me they dislike ...

As far as the manual goes its something along the lines of IF a vehicle known to be fitted with anti roll bars as standard then they must be fitted, buttttt how the hell would I know if it was fitted as standard on every different model so would struggle to fail a motor unless I knew 100% then I would have to pass and advise

Not much left for me to do now, make up body mounts( both chassis and body)cap chassis ends chop and reweld exhaust, find then plumbe fuel tank, final fit the bumper, them loads of underseal, think that's about so another few hours will have it sorted and back in the mud!!

Then Mark can get cracking on the paintwork!!

Only going by my local MOT man .. but to me it's pretty obvious what the brackets are for ... ;)

What about adding a pair of these

2 x Recovery Eyes/Weld on Recovery Rings warn 8274 winch off road gwynlewis4x4

You can never have too many recovery points

Probably anything by GwynLewis is pretty good, and the ebay listing gives good advice about 'em ...

They're way better than the 36mm swivels that many people fit .. 200780710659 .. forgetting how little metal there is actually holding the swivels on when under recovery tension, especially if at an angle!!

Totally agree mate but there are some cars that left the factory without arb fitted( Renault clios are one)so even if you removed just the arb the tester would have to be 100% sure it's been removed as opposed too never fitted!

Hi all
Just to let u know,we havnt given up on disco :D
Just ran out of time the last week and hoping to get on it during day's next week.
Gotta say a big thankyou to Matt Baxter as altho I havnt had much time in last week he's been out there on his own doing lots of fab and welding work(cheers mate)
Also thanks to Ian for helping me get what was left of Salisbury plain out of top of gearbox :)

just need the filler neck and pipework so we can fit it up for the last time so I'm now waiting for stuff to weld :bored:

The bumper is finished and fitted although I will remove/refit it when we get the metal to make and fit the tank guard.

not a lot left to do now just a shame I'm off on holiday on sunday morning:dance:

and we want it back out and in the mud for next weekend (08/07) so will be cutting it fine but its doable with a little help!

Hi all
After a hectic couple of weeks its time for update
havnt had a great deal of time spare lately but luckily its at matts and he gets bored easily :D
so we have made progress.
so much so that we took it down to the new thamesvalley4x4 site at winchester on the 8th
unfortunately its not finished so had to go on trailer but once there it performed like a dream.
anyway,jobs done....
fuel tank custom made (by matt ) thanks to ian for stepping in when matt popped to majorca for a few days and welding the filler pipe into tank,oh and the signature obviously :)
rear bumper fitted,inc nato hitch
clear perspex cut to fit side windows and heated and bent for roof windows(worked a treat)
lots of interior trim re cut and back in but still alot to go
plus lots of other little jobs.
we lost quite abit of time on the fuel tank (my fault ) as i really really wanted to use the space under what is left of the boot between chassis rails as i didnt want to follow usual root and have cans/tank in boot as i usually have wife and kids with me when playing so wanted the room and also didnt wanna risk diesel smell in car.
we eventually made a tank (obviously we pressure tested it ) and managed to to fit my original snder unit/swirlpot.the gauge is working but not quite sure how accurate yet.
the filler is now below rear light (to be moved above light ) and is made from a jerry can neck as i was gonna buy a chrome filler and then decided a jerry can would look part as car will be painted nato green and satin black camo when finished.
