Disco block in a Defender 200tdi oil capacity

Right so I had a Disco 200tdi bottom block transplanted in to my otherwise defender 200tdi. All ancillaries and water pump etc taken from the original defender engine and put on the new block.
Now the book says a defender 200tdi takes 6.85ltrs of oil and a Disco 200tdi takes 5.8 ltrs how much is the capacity on mine now?
Also I can't get a Defender 200tdi alternator belt to fit at all now.
Any help with either of these issues greatly appreciated.
I as because I think I've pit too much oil in as I'm getting oil into the air filter from the crank cast breather. The cyclone filter is unblocked but very wet.
I've also got a bit of oil from the back of the turbo. This was concerning because I've only just put a new billet compressor wheel in which has been great for 3 months...then I found the oil issue at the back.
My dipstick is useless. I had put in 7ltrs of 10/40 semi. If the new capacity should've been 5.8, could this be why I'm getting a bit oily?

As Zed says are you running the correct stick and tube?

I would just stick 5.5 litres in and run it for a day or so and then check the level.

If the fanbelt is new they can be feckers, sometime have to loosen a few bits then fit the belt then secure the loosened bits, the old belt should have the correct size on it., possibly 13x725.
 
Defenders & rr have 1 ltr extra than a disco as the sumps have different profiles.

rr & Disco 200tdi have the engine foreward (hence the 'high-mount' injector-pump position to miss the steering box and with the front of the engine / timing case above the axle - same as all 300tdi series onwards?)

Ninety 2.5d, 2.5td / Defender 200tdi have the engine mounted rearward near the bulkhead (behind the axle centreline?)

So you reckon the sumps are different?

One part number for the sump listed as fitting all 200 models, ERR1790

I have both engines in cars outside, but as I am sat here in the warm in my dressing gown, I aint venturing outside if I can help it!

We spoke to someone at Turner Engineering a while back as my mate was doing the same conversion.
Pus the only sump part no he could see was the same for both disco/defender :confused:called them & thats what
they came back with. :)

Dont forget a 200tdi disco lump is a straight drop in fit into a series motor, sump clearance is not an issue.
Also dont forget Defender were mainly commercials so expected to have a tougher life, and I reckon thats why the dipstick has different markings to the disco models, L/N/H and N is for normal smack bang between L and H.
So I would say the sumps are the same unless someone can provide proof otherwise.

All the part numbers for the 200tdi are the same, I only have a 200 defender & a 300 disco here
so not much use. I do wonder if theres a difference in the oil cooler capacity's.
Is that your series with a 200 in it.

I think rads/intercooler and frame are the same part number for the 200 models as well, and cooler is built into the rad end cap.

When I ran my 90 as my daily if the oil was kept up the H mark it always needed topping up, but if left to drop down to the N mark it pretty much stayed there between oil changes, hence why I assumed LR just added the extra H mark on the stick as they know commercial users dont check their levels!
All the 200 I have owned have always been a pita to check the oil in, and have to be left standing for hours to get an accurate reading.

Yes my series 2, stuck the 200 in it years ago, engine was worn out when I fitted it (250 quid) and now its even more worn out! but I do like it in the series, makes it much safer to drive around down this end of the world.
