Corrupt engine control module software
Engine control module power supply fault
Engine control module failure
Using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system, re-configure the engine control module with the latest level software
Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the engine control module power supply for open circuit. Repair wiring harness as required.

Since this car has been in an accident, a wire or fuse issue is more plausible. Wiring attached.

Same goes for the Ambient air temperature sensor fault.

This may be of no help at all, but as the disco underbonnet fuse box has quite a few slots unused if theres any fuses been put in them it may casue issues.
We have had the exact same issues where drivers think they are doing good by placing fuses in the empty slots bringing up engine/ecu faults.

will take your advice and look at the items mentioned thanks , no probs with taking photos when i have a mo but of which areas ?

just seen your other replies gstuart really appreciate your input and wiring diagram and thanks to all the other members who have given advice, with reference to it might be a fuse issue which ones should be checked ?

was out of curiosity plse ref damaged area etc,

hope the info can be of use and u get it resolved , unfortunately mines a D3 so don’t know what kind of different systems the D4 has , apart from more wiring , lol

Check them all as like many modern vehicles lots of the system are tied into each other.

Right I know people will think as he still not sorted that car but it’s been put to one side till a few weeks ago due to just being to busy to sort,
Still not sorted the start issue but with the gap tool I got this info attached after a plug in but not sure what it means or how to solve it

It's showing the immobilizer is active. Are you sure the transponder ring is working? I'd do a resistance check to make sure.
