having a issue with my disco 300tdi not turning over used key fob to turn off immobiliser light on dash gone off and nothing when try to start, entered code into door thinking I might have problem with immobiliser light on dash off again still nothing, took belt off as was told try that again nothing cleaned connection on earth still nothing put wire from battery live to starter motor check that it turns over but nowt else anyone know what it might be I got a discovery 1 300tdi S reg

As far as I'm aware I'm not getting 12v to the starter, I believe I've checked fuses and relays but nothing came up when I put a live direct from battery to starter it cranks but no start.

Symptoms that u may have an immobiliser issue, generally it has two functions, inhibit the fuel supply and the starter.
You have provided a temporary bypass to the starter to get the engine to crank. Now you need to provide a bypass to override the stop solenoid which I believe diesel vehicles have, or what ever controls your ⛽️ fuel.

If it was immobiliser then when I put the eka code in surely that would override it, now I'm not 100% sure it is the correct code I have no alarm sound so I don't get the bleeps after entering the code, how ever when I put the code in the dash light for the alarm does stop flashing which says it has worked I'm not very good when it comes to immobilisers but like I said if the light goes out surely it has been turned off??

Presuming it is a manual, at that age you should have the DDS VE pump - which has three black wires into the fuel solenoid cover on the "back" of the FIP - a search on here should provide more info. It is possibly the standard failure of the spider unit in the dash - a pig to get at, but usually easily fixed with a soldering iron round the dry joints, or a bypass from the usual places. ( DDS = digital diesel solenoid ).

If it is an auto, with the EDC pump, then you'll need to get some codes read, to get some idea of what's going on.

again presuming manual, then, IMHO, bypass the starter circuit, and the fuel solenoid supply first, and prove that the engine still wants to play ball - then sort out why its being "silly"!

The light extinguishing after the correct code has been entered sounds about right from memory, that's something I'd have to swat up on as I've never had to enter the code, but... the Emergency Key Access code is not for overriding a partial or non-functioning security/ immobiliser control unit.
The purpose is to override the security system if your unfortunately find you find you cannot gain access or start the engine because of a missing or broken fob in an otherwise fully functioning vehicle security system.

I had a problem with my immobilizer ended up using a bypassit but still had problems turning over ,turns out it was a dodgy spade connecter on the starter motor

I've had AA out today said dodgy starter relay and wiring located under bonnet near fuse box replaced still nothing I've cleaned up the spade connection on starter that not helped its driving me crazy now I've done so much to it over the last year a massive part of me is now saying give up as I've had 5/6 "mechanics" look at it still no joy

Have you checked to see if you have 12V at the starter solenoid spade connector when the key is turned as if it is being cranked?

Cheers

So silly question time, have you checked it now the relay has been changed?

Is there power at the relay?

Cheers
Unfortunately I have no way of checking as I don't have the equipment to try it at moment but from what's happening I guess not but guessing not best idea I'll try confirm tomoz when get back over to disco as on my dads drive at mo
