Hello everyone. I've just joined the forum and wondered if anyone can help with a problem I'm having with the Disco. Its a 1996/N reg 300TDI. When starting it splutters and coughs, tries to fire two or three times then starts and runs fine untill the next start up. Yesterday when leaving a fuel station it cut out on the exit road but restarted as above then ran fine. I'm a bit concerned that it might cut out when on the move so want to cure the problem. I wondered if it could be the fuel cut off operating when it shouldn't or maybe the immobilizer like wise. Any thoughts or similar experience and cures would be gratefully received.
Many thanks

Might be. Run a wire, preferably fused, from a permanent live to the stop solenoid (disconnect original wire first od course). See if that makes a difference or not.
If its OK then you need to check original wiring.

Thanks for response. Am struggling to find stop solenoid. Is it obvious or am I just looking in the wrong place? If I can find I will try your idea.
Cheers

It's on the back of the injection pump.

There's a small chance it may have a cover over it but unlikely.

Basically, look for any wires connecting to the injection pump. If they're going to a black disc thing on the top, with a multipin connector, carry on looking as it's not these ones. A single, white (iirc, but it's probably covered in a black cover) wire.
