As above, is the battery the correct size for the vehicle?

Yes I'm sure it's the correct size. Waiting on delivery of the volt meter but I was wondering if this is a stored code error. Does this happen if it's been an error prior to a battery change and not cleared after a new battery fitted? It's only ever on the 1st start-up of the day even if I turn it off straight away after the error and start the car it's not throwing the error. Do d3's store codes on start up as a warning?
Yes.
There'll be hundreds of codes, most likely.
A weak or failing battery does the data buses no favours at all.
Also heard long slow cranking can sometimes be the cause of the main shells spinning due to the lack of oil lubrication
as others have mentioned ensuring the battery is kept at the correct voltage , ie, with the engine off a min of 12.6 Vdc and around 14.5 Vdc with the engine running , extremely important and indeed will have many fault codes when the battery gets low

Don't think I explained my question right.
Before I got my battery replaced the error was coming on. After new battery it still comes up. Now could this be because it's a historic error and will keep coming on regardless until cleared. My thoughts for this is because it instantly clears and all is ok no lights on dash no suspension errors. Only present on very first startup of the day.

I think I'm going to get rid of my discovery 3. Having no starting issues recently and having not had a family holiday in a few years we booked a few days away. Set off this morning and 1 hour into journey bong.....
Transmission fault limited gears only F on the dash ( no hdc error or park break/suspension) pulled over restarted the car fault not present. Decided t9 continue but issue arose again when going up a moderate incline. Exact same fault switched off and fault gone. Decided to come home and drove it very carefully.
Going to see what garage says tomorrow but by the the sounds of of some Google searches it's not looking good.
Anything I can be checking in the meantime?

sorry to hear ur holiday plans were messed up
Plse don’t think I’m trying to teach u how to suck eggs, but since having the new battery fitted has the voltages been checked to now see what they are with the engine off and then engine running whilst under load , to ensure the charging and battery voltages are correct to begin with , as indeed a bad battery / alternator will and can cause untold issues , making the instrument panel look like a xmas tree
do u have to rely a garage / having ur own diagnostics / multimeter will dramatically reduce costs
know they can be frustrating at times and can be very expensive if ur not able to do ur own work
Was the new battery charged before it was fitted plse as really need to ensure 100% the battery / alternator are working correctly before doing anything else , then moving onto diagnostics
Having a battery charger , multimeter and diagnostics is really a must in owning one of these vehicles , there very complicated and hope u don’t mind me saying but if u have to solely rely on a garage ur need deep pockets, unless u or have someone that can do the work
Just being totally honest with u and hope this helps a little and plenty of us to guide u through it

It feels like my issues are related. Unpacking the car now and will go into it tomorrow when I have a clear head. Also when I was going uphill and the fault popped up my driver window came down by itself. I put it back up but came down again. Transmission error is really worrying me. Safe to say the wife is not happy.
So heartbreaking to hear that and really feel for u , easy for me to say but put ur feet up with a nice cuppa and plenty of us here to help u all we can
window going down by itself can be something as simple as a bad earth , even loose battery terminals can cause this , along with gearbox issues if there’s a bad earth/ positive if they go off and then back on again very quickly , confuses the hell out of the control modules throwing errors etc
do u have sun roofs and the centre sat nav screen plse
please don’t think I’m being nosy but are u able to work on the vehicle urself or have someone who can, more than happy to guide u step by step

I don't have a sunroof but do have a sat nav/ 4x4 screen. I'm happy to do a few bits on my own depending on complexity.
First thing in the morning I will check the battery voltage but I will pop to my local garage who will happily read the codes for free as I know them fairly well. Will codes be stored as it's not showing the F on the dash now.

as u have the centre sat nav screen i can teach u how to get into the secret menu which will also show u some data which may be useful
indeed as the “ F “ fault code was displayed it will still be stored when DTC codes are read
Is the menu where you hold top centre of the screen and input 753?
Thinking about the starting issues I've had when I was getting the special programmes not available ( which I haven't had for some time) I had the battery replaced through kwik fit but still had the issue. Been using the car more since being out of hospital with no problems. Today was a worrying issue especially when I saw transmission fault. If i remember rightly according to the paperwork I have it was flushed 2.5 years ago could this be transmission oil issue and when underload it's overheating and putting up the error to protect itself? Like i said I don't get hdc error or suspension lowered when the F comes on the dash if I stop and restart it clears itself. Is there any sensors I can check or the unit behind the battery (I forget what it's called) as I read somewhere water can cause problems.

So after a sleepless night this morning I started the car no warnings at all. Battery tested.
Ignition off 12.7
Ignition on 14.7 (also with headlights on)
My friend can't read the codes till later on this afternoon.

Now im not sure if it was because it was it's first start-up since yesterday but I noticed a slight vibration surge when sat idle it was only sligt and could see the rev counter jumping ever so slightly with the vibration. Also previously I mentioned I had no gear selector light ( the suspension and range lights work) could I have a faulty selector?

P0730-00 intermittent incorrect gear ratio
U0155-87 permanent loss communication with instrument cluster control module
P0735-00 intermittent gear 5 incorrect ratio
P0729-00 historic gear 6 incorrect ratio.
Having looked up the codes I find these probable causes.
Low or dirty transmission fluid Mechanical failure inside transmission Internal blockage inside transmission main control Faulty Shift solenoid Faulty transmission control module
Now 1st thing I want to check is the transmission control module for any water damage how would I do this? Where is it located and can it be cleaned with electrical cleaning. How difficult is this to do?
After that I will have transmission oil level checked I understand this is an under vehicle job to do

Just o4dered the autel ap200 pre order which will arrive end of the month. I know it's not a gap iid but for the price of £47 and the positive reviews seems like a good buy.
Poor weather today so I won't be looking into the transfer case module. Am I right in saying it's behind the battery? If allow the car to sleep and disconnect the battery for a period of time would it be ok?
