DIsco 3.9 EFi no crank to start

Hi all
I bought this truck as a project. it was taken off the road by the previous owner to have the inner wings replaced but due to poor health it was sidelined until i bought the truck it has been lying in a shed for the past 10 years. i cannot get the engine to crankover i can turn the engine by hand and have tried to tap the starter encase it had siezed but still when i turn the key noting not even a click. Has anyone experianced this before.

Have you removed the plugs and turned over the engine with the starter via a direct feed to check the engine isn’t sieized?
As it been standing unloved for ten years or so any thing involved with the starter electrical circuit may have an issue now.
So it could be vehicles security system and its immobiliser will inhibit cranking, if an automatic so will the inhibit switch for the auto gearbox, an iffy starter relay or ignition switch and any wiring involved, plus there’s more no doubt that I can’t recall at the moment.

I can turn the engine over by hand so the engine it self isnt siezed

. It is an auto so inhibit switch will be worth a look. I replaced the baterry in the fob today and the central locking is working to lock and unlock the doors so hopefuly that will get the imobiliser off too. Failing that i will remove the starter and power it on a bench to see if it turns. Thanks for the pointers discool

Ok, the engine turns ... great.
With the auto inhibit switch is duel function, I’m sure up know this

with the reverse lamps so just pull the gearbox electrical plug and then there’s no inhibit or reverse lamp illumination, but it’s only a test..
Remote locking function is a goo indicator that the fob is okay, in the normal life unlocking would remobilise the engine, therefore enable the cranking plus sparking at the plugs.

Once you have cranking and fuel at the ‘spark plugs’ u need the plugs to spark, but if not then... it gets easier with fault finding... hopefully.
Of course don’t forget a fully charged battery and good battery termination

youd have to join the inhibit wires to prove it was the switch

You can always flash the starter with a wire direct from the battery (carefully). If it doesn't, crank then it's likely the starter. If it does, think immobiliser.

Thanks for all the help new starter on and the engine is running a treat after not been started for the last 10 years
