Well this is the start of a new adventure, finally have bought a discovery. I am now getting to sort out all those little issues such as the three amigo's, wiring harness around injectors and the air suspension ! But my other issue is the fact that we only have one key. Can I purchase a second key blank for a couple of quid and get it cut. I know that it will not give me remote central locking but will I be able to open/close the car from the drivers door and then start and drive the car or will I also need a fob as it turns off immobiliser ?

Many thanks in advance
Martin

P.S. - Apologies if this has already been answered, I have searched but couldn't find it.

The fob contains the immobiliser chip, so unless you can get one from a proper key supplier it will end up being genuine only, UNLESS you buy another key for the gubbins and then cut a new blank to shape, put the gubbins in the new blank and then take it all the land rover/nanocom to have the keys recoded.

Not sure on all cars but on the Hondas you could easily recode the transponder and Honda, and you could setup the central locking button coding yourself using a sequence.

Speak to land rover or a nanocom expert!

....or get the fobless key, cut it to fit in the ignition then ask somebody with tester to set the alarm in BCU to "always " ... that's the answer to :

;) read this: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/recommendation-d2-owners-184078.html

for the fobless key to work you will have to disable the passive immobiliser too...your choice... but if you want to escape cheap that's the way...you can any time insert a hidden switch on the ECU feed circuit, or on the inertia fuel cut of switch or where ever you want as to not let the car to be started without this switch closed.
