I can answer to such question only one way: you have to remove the existing mirror and fit the compass one :rolleyes:, in most cases the connector is there under the headliner unused
 
You may need to drop the front of the headlining down so you can reach around for the connector as I ended up doing when I swopped the mirror. Easy to do as noted above.
 
Just looking at compass mirrors on eBay and just wondered how the wiring works, in the comments above it indicates the cable will be in the head lining, does this cable run down the mirror fixing and where abouts is the connector on the mirror, is it behind the plastic surround/cover ?

The one in the pic was pulled out with the headlining cable connected to it, the connector is within it's "leg"
