Hi

Took Disco out yesterday for a 40 mile trip. It unlocked, started and ran fine. Parked up and key fob would not lock doors so used key. Came back 4 hours later and still fob not working so unlock with key and engine will not start. No click from solenoid. Dead. Check with Nanocom and engine still 'immobilised'. No other faults recorded. Try battery disconnect for a while and reconnect - no change.

Had EKA so tried the manual key system for disarming. Got code wrong first time, tried again and response from system slow and not regular so no joy.

Disconnect battery and reconnect etc. In end admit defeat (children tired) and home on back of a lorry.

Since then I have:

1. Tried spare fob
2. replaced batteries in both fobs (3.3V measured) and retried
3. Charged the battery for 3 hours (getting about 12.4Volts - new decent battery last year)
4. Used Nanocom and confirmed the key is recognised, the car is still immobilised (thought I turned alarm off using Nanocom but try to start and the flashing commences again).
5. Nanocom says no RF signal from key.

I have noticed that when starter key turned the clock light dims and I now get the M&S lights flashing. I know they are sensitive to voltage so have left LR on charge overnight. Battery reading around 12.4V and was new last year but Disco has been idle for a few days.

My thoughts are stick with battery charging - low volts seem to cause all sorts of glitches on Disco2. Use Nanocom to disable alarm and try again. If not use EKA system with charged battery. Then look at RF receiver under headlining in rear - any way to test?, then drivers door switch/lock?

Any thoughts from people who have been here welcome. Lost of similar issues on forum but nothing quiet hits the spot.

Regards

Jer

sounds like battery is poor may have 12v but no power, try with jump leads with earth lead on engine positive to battery to prove baterry good or bad

Dont try to disarm the alarm with tester untill it's active cos u might mess it up deeper...it's conceived as to not be able to disarm it with anything else than EKA code or dealer testbook. U can't test the receiver but u must be able to enter with the key/EKA then start it.
1. Did u wait 5 minutes after u entered EKA?
2. After the 5 minutes u have only 30 sec. to turn ignition otherwise the passive remobilisation exciter coil reactivates the immobiliser

If the full battery recharge will be without effect resume to the EKA procedure ... though if the door switch is making tricks it might be difficult

Thanks for the quick replies and the links to the pdf files. Useful to be reminded where the BCU sits and to confirm the EKA WILL reset.
I did see the 5 minute 'wait' the problem was an unclear lock reaction to ensure I was counting correctly. I will recharge overnight and have another go. Thanks again.

I you don't want to wait the 5 mins, after entering the code with the key, then having confirmed that the code has been accepted, by the double beep, simply lock then unlock the car with the key in the door and you are good to go, this will save you waiting the 5 mins, to get going

Its worth checking ALL the earthing points as this can cause problems.
There's the main one from the battery and then a couple in front of the air box and then one or two in the passenger foot well under the slabs and bcu units.
