I am just rubbish at all this stuff. Talk about a slow learner.
Do hope you get it sorted out.

for instance, If i lock my car with the plip and walk away from it the alarm goes off before I've got 20 feet. so i lock it with the key.
It unlocks and de-immobilises just fine with the plip, but I am scared to go any further to try and fix it.

Cheers Stan. I’ll tackle anything with nuts and bolts, but put anything like this in front of me and I run a mile. I can’t even work a multi meter. I’ll get there though. If it makes my life less stressful, I don’t care if the alarm or immobiliser work to be honest. It’s the fear of it doing this again that gets me. I’ve been cursing my 90 over the last few weeks as I’ve been doing a ton of stuff on that, but thank god it’s got none of this electrickery on it :)

For settings you have to plug nanocom in then turn ignition to 2 make all the work you need then exit all menus untill nanocom turns off then wait 60 seconds and turn ignition off, that's the best procdure but nowhere described... any way after you was with nanocom in the BCU watch all the warning lamps to work on self test cos it used to alter instrument pack settings withut request then you have to go back and set them t be OK....no worries, it happens but all the settings are reversible and you can't learn to work with it without practice :). you have to turn on the engine only when you want to read engine live inputs. Good luck

Couldn’t agree more. Even if they gave us the basics. Like the correct sequence to connect it and power it up. Sounds simple, but I believe if you connect to the vehicle then the Nanocom it can short things out. They should really make you aware of that. @sierrafery is right though in saying you need to actually use it to learn how it works…..and hopefully not give ourselves more issues on the learning curve :p

at the end picture, select 3 EKA programming.
 
I think @sierrafery should write a Nanocom and Foxwell instruction book and flog them on here with a “no liability qualification”. I would gladly pay money for something like this. It could also have sections for basic auto electrics and how to use test equipment for thick twunts like me :p. Like @jamesmartin , who no longer comes on here and is a huge loss, SF is worth his weight in gold to us on this forum, and others, in my opinion.

Yup I'd pay good money for summat like that. And even more for the injection of a few brain cells so I could understand more about eelectronix!!!:):):):)
