Well what can i say? It's very comforting to know there is so much knowledge on here. Thank you all so much, i will investigate and let you all know. Thanks again.
He could see it just by lifting the gaiter couldn't he?Agree with this, I would first check if it has cdl, previous owners could have fitted/bodged a transfer box in and not connected the warning light. My facelift d2 isn't fitted with cdl in the box.
Get underneath the vehicle and have a look on the transfer box. I will look and post a picture for you to see what your looking for
unfortunately labelling has proven to be very hit and miss in both directions, and it if was rigged up on one that didn't originally have it I doubt the person who did it would bother to do anything about either the label or the gear knob.Maybe could see the linkage, I can't say as mine isn't fitted with it. I would have thought if it is fitted, the transfer box gearstick would have diff lock written on it View attachment 276650
Mine just has L - N - H

Mine is just like yours D2 TD5 auto, no difflock and no label to say any different.
Some d2s are fitted with cdl, just didn't have the lever to activate it
TC triggering would be accompanied by the TC light coming on, question is, does it?Mine had a lever from new
Noise i suspect TC triggering
As i said in post #24 if a previous owner had connected it up they may well have just not bothered to change the label or the gear knob.N.B Mine has just high and low lever.

You asking me?Does the light work?
Update. Mechanic says when on lift shutting engine off clutch in the rear wheels stop and the front wheels go backwards. what the heck.
No the light is not there. nor does the tc light. Sorry for the late reply to you all, I'm just in from work after a mare of a day. I am going to use it tomorrow for work, not a bit happy about it because if it does go bang the job were on will really suffer. I will report in minute detail what she does. As ever feeling blessed for all the help.TC triggering would be accompanied by the TC light coming on, question is, does it?
Right so that gives you a starting point. It may just never have been connected up. It isn't a MOT requirement. No the light is not there.
Hope you aren't having to do the fencing job on your own.Right if i get a chance tomorrow i will, although i am flat out trying to get a particularly awkward fence and rails up. Fingers crossed and thanks again.
At our place in France recently I had to repair and improve a fence which involved nailing chain link two layers up to about 6 feet to hardwood, holly trees, whose bits and pieces were sticking into me from all sides, the wood was so bloody hard I would start it off with a an ornery hammer but then finish each two pronged nail off with a lump hammer. No team effort thank goodness , Then on to a 4 week paving fencing landscaping job. Knackered.
At least being 67 and allegedly retired, I can knock off when it gets too muchNo team effort thank goodness , Then on to a 4 week paving fencing landscaping job. Knackered.
