Hi All,

Has anyone out there in Landy Zone Land put a NATO hitch on a Disco 2 without changing the rear bumper? Any advice / pictures would be appreciated.

Secondly are Sankey trailer standard pattern wheel studs compatable with Disco 2 wheels?

Thanking you all in anticipation

Regards

I have a similar problem with my P38. I've managed to acquire a combined NATO/50mm ball hitch, but the bolt pattern is slightly different to the one on my towbar, and I'm not sure of the best way to make it fit.

Unfortunately the Sankey bolt pattern is standard LR, (i.e. series/defender/RRC/disco 1), and not compatible with your (or my) disco2/P38 pattern. You could get some adapters to make them fit, but they're fairly pricey.

No Sankey wheel stud pattern is different to a D2's but will fit D1/Defender. the other problem you'll have is the sankey is designed to be attached to a Defenders rear crossmember. Hence why the bolt holes on the nato pintle are different to a drop plates hole spacings. And even then the trailer is towed nose down. On a D2 or any disco it'll be even more nose down, and the ring will be pushing up against the towing pintle and levering the back end of the disco upwards. That's if the pintle doesn't lever open

I've done it. We use it every year as a camping trailer.

I have a Nato hitch mounted on a dixon bate (fitted to give max lift possible).

As the trailer will still sit nose down - I was going to fit some RR alloys with skinny low profiles but my local tyre place supply general trailer wheels using the correct PCD. I chose a pair of 13inch rims with commercial type tyres, meaning the trailer height has been lowered.

Still sits a little nose down, tows great though.
