As in the title really. I've flooded the engine before and fixed it and it ran fine after the first time but after the second time the other day it's very down on especially when going up hill. I've been told it sounds like bent push rods or possibly bent valves?
Was just wondering if anyone had any other idea what it could be before I make a start on it tomorrow.

Thanks in advance for replies!

P.S a snorkel arrives tomorrow so hopefully won't have this problem again haha

Are you telling us you've been wading without one :eek::eek: Strewth:rolleyes:

That would be correct! The usual line is 'it didn't look that deep! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1356627040.147631.jpg

It has been kicking out a bit yes and the engine cut out a couple of times too.
Try loosening off the injector pipes from injectors one at a time while the engine is running, if the smoke stops then thats the faulty cylinder. If no different tighten off ond go to next one.

If you get water into the engine, are the symptoms apparent immediately, shortly after, or can they occur some time afterwards?

Did some work today. Got the rocker gear off and checked the push rods they were fine and while that was off all the valves were seated level so i was contemplating taking all the bottom end out to check the conrods when some one suggested checking the deisel filter.
So we took the deisel filter off and it was clogged full of thick golden syrup looking stuff! No idea what that could be but I put my spare on, bled it, fired her up and took her for a drive and she's running normal again I'm glad to say!

I'm glad to have stumbled across this thread - my 200tdi has been having similar problems since the last trip to Salisbury Plain. Was going to take the head off tomorrow to investigate. Will try the fuel filter first!
