Looking into getting a 300tdi 3-door out of my mate's yard. Trouble is, there's not many of them out there so it's hard to get a reference point for price so I can come up with a reasonable offer. It's all there, needs a sill welding which he'll do and a new back door mechanism (which I'll probably do as he failed once.)

Interior clean with 7 seats
Engine/gearbox good
Electrics all work (back door lock excepted)
5 good wheels and tyres.

Otherwise general LandRover type niggles but nothing major.

Thoughts?

Depends on how far the rot has actually got.
Late ones that are in reasonable nick, once done up, will probably start to increase in value reasonably soon as long as we are still allowed to drive them.
You don't mention the mileage. Is it stellar? Are there any mods?
Just noticed 3 DOOR. Now that would make a difference. For some bizarre reason some people rate them as more than a 5 door. (Can never see it myself)
Any service history at all?

I wouldn't have thought a 3 door would be worth much, defeats the whole purpose of buying a discovery, unless you want to chop it up and make a tray back or something.

Mostly straight and unmolested. Mileage is around 120k. Definitely only 3 doors but would be uncommon to have anyone in the back anyway. As for servicing, the present owner has had it for around 4 years and I've helped him with the servicing so it's been reasonably well kept. Will have another poke around at the boot floor to check for rust, otherwise it's nothing that can't be welded and he's already got th repair panels.

It’s worth depends on the remaining metal! Mechanical parts are cheap but clean ones that aren’t crying out for the body to be restored are becoming lesser. Once you get into removing stuff to weld, cost of body mounts and easy on panels, you could double what you paid for it no problem. 3dr does put the worth up and 3dr commercial even more so.
