Help please ...!

Returning Home last night for the first time in a while in the dark, I noticed that my dipped headlights were only shining around 20 yards ahead, making it almost impossible to drive safely.

This issue has come completely out of nowhere

There is no information in the handbook or otherwise....Has anyone come across this who can advice on what's the issue is likely to be?

All help greatly appreciated :)

Welcome :) .

Is day time running lights turned on and you simply forgot to turn the lights on.
We sometimes do it but ours are headlight running lights so the only clue is there is no lights on the dash/cabin switches.

Ok. I would say its not the bulbs (both to go at once ;)) is there a fuse or relay? sorry dont know the car so check your manual.
Do the rear lights come on when you switch the lights on?

Yes, all other lights are working normally, it’s just a change in the dipping length that’s became an issue 😀

As I say not familiar with the car, but ours (2011 L322) goes through a light levelling thing on start up where it moves the lights up/down, does yours have that?
Maybe it’s stuck down.

problem resolved. Levelling sensor was disconnected during recent work to replace the OSR coli spring, and was not reconnected !
