May sound silly but how do you know when the diff has gone. My car broke down and the garage here said its the diff or the axle. They came to this conclusion after apprently spendin 4 hours looking at the car. But i know the wheeles didn't even come off. Me thinks they're cowboys. Any help welcome.
Its a 110 200tdi 1992
Cheers

Wot symptoms do yu get?
Remove prop, remove half shafts from suspect axle and put it in difflock.
Then drive it and see if yu have the same symptoms.

would love to try it but don't know anything about landy.
Symptoms are. Steering feels funny. Turning on full lock then tuning back and it get stuck. the recovery man jacked up the car and put the front wheels on full lock then span the drivers wheel and it locked then bounced back. the other side was fine. Also strange grinding noise occasionally. mostly when going over bumps

With landy in gear jack each wheel up in turn, try to turn road wheel,it will move a bit, but if it spins right around or grates then diff or halfshaft or cv in front axle gone, best bet its the cv.

My mate also said CV joint but no being able to communicate with the czech. I think they are taking the oppertunity to spank the brits. They said dff or axle within 5 mins of lookig at it. I have found a place called def tec centrum is a land center in prague am having the car toed there tomorrow. here is the site if interested. DEF-TEC: Land Rover autoservis - centrum Kosoø
