Unfortunately my series is not kept at home otherwise I could just measure it. Is there any difference in the external width from flat side of the wing to the other flat side of the wing between a series vehicle and defender?

Land Rover series 1-2 3 - 66in wide.

Land Rover 90/110 - 70.5in.

land Rover Defender - 70in

so there is a difference ;)

Depends which Series you mean. A Series 1 is narrower.

But a Series II, IIa, III, Stage 1 and Defenders are all the same width across the bulkhead (and the wings). A Defender is "wider" overall due to the wheel spats and wider track axles.

I have managed to measure mine and can confirm that they do indeed appear to be the same across the wings at the front. It is a series 3 and I was only interested in the metal wing not the wheel spats.

Also for reference if anyone else comes to this thread I measured both me series 3 and my td5 defender to be roughly (before I am accused of needing a new tape measure as well) 64 inches from flat wing side to flat wing side across the front grill.
