Might be worth checking to see whether the brake light comes on when you depress the pedal...?

The 2 Amigos lights on the dashboard tend to light up while you are on the move, specially when using the brakes to slow down. Doubtful you can just stop in the middle of a busy main road, rush to the back of your car, just to check the brakes once you've got the 2 Amigos. (Unless you arrange for a friend to follow you and let you know, which again is doubtful, since there is no way of knowing when it will happen.)

This is interesting, as I noticed the "two amigos" illuminating briefly and self-extinguishing a few weeks ago. Curiously, there was no retained fault as far as I could find, and the ABS check light sequence was unaltered (indicating no-retained faults).

Not had it again for a good long while, but if the two amigos were to pop back to say hello, I'll know where the problem most likely lies! ;)

Funnily enough I had the TC & orange HDC lamps on today. On a sealed road and just come off a longish down hill section and they came on. I stopped at the next intersection and briefly switched off and restarted - no joy. Carried on to home - about 30km. Switched off and left it for a few minutes - restarted and hey presto no lamps on. Don't know why it does that but it has happened before. When off the seal I find big bumps and rough ground can bring them on too.
This is Oct 2020 so I guess I'm looking at past history - but may help others. "2 amigos" (TC + HDC) on a 2005 Td4 Manual. Cleared themselves after a few minutes (2 occasions, I think). Initial panic on the assumption of System Fault (as per handbook) but had ABS sensor wiring plugs in mind for a quick check. This forum said Brake Light Switch, and it was. Took it to bits, cleaned up a worn / burned contact, reassembled. Sorted. Many thanks to others who started these threads. If it goes again I'll buy a new switch. Incidentally the wiring diagram (Haynes) is wrong - there are two sets of contacts in the Brake Light Switch - that's how the ABS module knows the switch is faulty. I just wish LR could have put this in the Handbook.
