Diff oil noise

Ok guys and lasses
I've swaped the oil in my front yesterday
Went out for a nice drive today after about 50 miles the front diff starts to make a grating noise
When I return home I find the underneath covered in oil that's come out the diff breather pipe
Any ideas would be great fully received.

What grade of oil did you put in?

The local garage did it for me
But to be straight with you I don't smell like ep90 to me
If it's too thin a grade will it all just get chucked up the breather

Take it back. Sounds like they cocked up maybe wrong grade and to much.

no gear oil seems much thinner nowadays

Yes, noticed that too. Ep90 is thinner than it used to be. And the 80/90w semi syn is even thinner.

If its cheap and readily available, makes good business sense! I had assumed it was trying to reduce drag and improve fuel efficiency, save the planet. Could be wrong.

Somebody has mentioned to me it could be a blocked "banjo" bolt in the diff
Can anybody tell me where abouts it is and I'll check it

top of the long tube with breather pipe secured to it

Is there any other reason the diff would chuck the oil out the breather pipe apart from the wrong oil

If the breather was blocked it'd be likely pushing oil out the ends of the axle

t/box fault wouldnt effect diff ,a seized prop slide might though
