Your point is?
As I've said time and time again it will spit out fuel when its turned over that is my point .
Morning chaps
Gona try to get a replacement lift pump today
Before i do are we all agreeing im testing it right and its failed?
Pull relay put direct 12v to the pin thats in a diferant direction to the rest, feed pipe disconected, ignition off?
Nothing comes out!
1998 car ie.. Pre 99
That's irrelavant, you direct powered it and it didn't run so the pump is knackered or the wiring has a break in it.If its powerd from the glow plug could the glow plug relay be faulty?
Does the ondash light come from before or after the relay?
Obviously if the pump isn't working nothing going to work man up will you .Only if the glow lamp is lit and the pump is running. In which case there is no need to crank the engine is there. If as in this case the pump is duff it does not matter what you do or how much you crank it will never spit out fuel. On 1998 models the lift pump is NOT powered on cranking. Why do you find that simple fact so hard to understand?

Pump out diesel from where exactly? It's possible the update is on both your cars, it certainly is not true for a 96.Obviously if the pump isn't working nothing going to work man up will you .
I find it hard to understand as I have bothA 98 and 99 dse and both work on ignition once glow have are not lit by turning car over both pump out diesel that it called practical Actually doing it and the other is Theory reading it from a book . That's why .

Was it the changeover with the inclution of egr?
Cos its got one
Nothing to do with theory reading from the book. It is possible that you have a late 1998 car made to early 1999 spec. They do have a cut off point. But i can assure you i have an early 1999 DSE made late 1998 and it does not have lift pump powered on cranking. The 1998 and 1999 fuse boxes are different and as far as i know cannot be interchanged.
An extract from rave that tells me when the starter is activated ie you are cranking .....
The fuel pump relay is pulled in when the starter
motor is activated, the earth path provided by the
alternator output. When the engine is running, the
starter motor is deactivated, supplying an earth path
while the generator supplies a feed i.e. a polarity
reversal.
That extract is from the 1999 on version of RAVE. It does not say that in the pre 1999 version. BECAUSE PRE 1999 THE LIFT PUMP WAS NOT POWERED BY CRANKING.
Erm it does say it in the 97 year amendment actuly . if fact it says it in all my versions
