Hi, was considering adding a LPG kit to my 300 Tdi, which basically involves the flow of LPG through the air inlet, allowing the diesel to combust more efficiently. Has anybody had this done, and what where the results?

what you are proposing is impossible on a diesel engine, if you put anything remotely flammable into the inlet it will rev is bollocks off with no way of controlling engine speed, Don't attempt it, you'll blow it up!!!!

Do a net search ,there are several companies offering this as a performance boost to diesels.Cant say I really approve - a TDI with a bit more boost/fuel and bigger intercooler works well enough.Having another complete fuel system seems like hard work to me,esp if you tell your insurance company - if you dont, well I guess thats up to you.

Allisport have a conversion kit. I spoke to several Landy owners on the Allisport stand at the 3 Counties LR show earlier this year and they all praised the performance and reliabilit. I've had LPG on cars and they worked great as well. If you can get to their premises they have a demo.

get a large intercooler and tweak the IP.
cheaper and much better all round.

Thanks for the reply. The Allisport conversion was the one I was thinking of, so was wondering what the upsides were and what the downs were.

I believe the method adopted by their system is into the air intake, but could be wrong.

To convert a diesel to lpg would you have to change the cylinder head to one with spark plugs? Also, you'd need to clean out the diesel tank and fit a second large lpg tank - why go to all that trouble?

Either sell your car and buy a converted petrol disco or join the lobby to promote BioDiesel.

Keep up.;)

Cost and possibly upsetting something that works is the downside. Upside is instant power however Allisport won't install it unless you allready have the larger intercooler etc. I'm going over to their works tommorrow to have my 300tdi upgraded. (not LPG) I'll get all the info and post it if you want
