Hi everyone!

2001 Disco TD5

I noticed a small amount of diesel on the floor the other day and ultimately discovered that there is a leak coming from the seal around the fuel pump. Its NOT the hoses as I double checked this. Looking closer it seems that the metal ring that hold the pump in place wasn't flush. So I removed it, cleaned everything up and put it all back. Its still leaking, although not as much but the fuel gauge has shot up to full - this seems more in line with its previous reading of 'nearly' full as I know it has a VERY full tank.

So what's the solution, can you overfill the tank or do I just need a new seal for the fuel pump?

Cheers!

There are two flexible pipes feed in at the top of the tank, both come from the filler. The one just over 1inch diameter was dozed and cracked on mine but I can't remember if a leak would run towards the pump or away. You might need to drop the tank a bit to check it properly. It was also poor where it connects to the filler, you could easily check it there. If it's bad on one sise it's likely it will be the same at the top of the tank.

Thanks, can those seals be bought separately....don't really want to fork out for a new pump just as its leaking!
Yeah seals are available separately, the p/no SF gave you has now superceded to WGQ500020 £16.32 inc. VAT. I replaced mine in Dec. when I replaced the fuel sender unit. The one that came out was a BMW part & black in colour, the new one was green & made in Italy (I know, totally useless info, I'm board, time to get a beer)
