Please can anyone help me, I have a series 3 diesel and it has developed a diesel leak on the injector pump and I can not stop it. The leak is at the injector pipe number 4 joint to the pump. I have replaced the pipe and it still leaks. I have also removed the screw thread in the pump that connects the pipe to the pump (if that makes sense) and placed ptf tape around the threads both sides to seal the threads but guess what it still leaks. The fuel runs from the joint onto the lip of the pump then down to the floor and it is a big leak, constantly dripping I am hoping and praying it's not the pump :( any advice would be greatfully received as this one little issue is getting to me.

Mine did this, its the banjo fitting going into the pump body. You can try swapping the sealing washers but that didnt really fully stop my leak and had to get the pump reconned in the end

Diesels a horrible thing for finding leaks as it seeks down even the tiniest gap so not easy to pinpoint the leak exactly but i reckon its that banjo fitting

Is the pipe rubber with a fabric covering? If so try replacing it. Mine did this and I found the pipe was perishing.

Hi, yes I do mean the steal injector pipe going onto the pump but thank you anyway, ok samc88 the banjo fitting is the screw part that comes out of the pump? Sorry for my ignorance just not completely sure :) do you know wher I could get the pump reconned and roughly how much it would be? I have swapped the steel washers but still no good was thinking of putting a rubber washer on along with the steel washer to see if that helps

Shouldnt use steel washers! Should be copper or proper alloy sealing washers. Tese compress which give a seal, steel doesnt.

Youre looking at around 300 quid for a recon pump from craddocks, a local diesel specialist may do it cheaper :)

Hope that helps! And yes the banjo fitting is the bolt that goes in the pump body

Yea I thought that about the washers but when I original took it off there was a steel one there so I swapped that for a copper one, I don't know if it will work but thinking of using a rubber washer with the copper one as the rubber will compress into small gaps etc, I am hoping and praying it's not the pump :(

Copper will be better, diesel will eat the rubber.

You might be lucky but i swapped all washers on mine and it still leaked like a sieve, after refurb its all fine
