Can you help - new to this forum but hope someone can shed light on an issue I have. My diesel on RR Vogue (2005) has had those issues of being lumpy as you are stationary and then passing as you drive - I had the injectors checked and a diagnostic and nothing unusual showed. RR recently had an audible electric noise and powered down with smoke from exhaust. Left for a moment it started up an no problem:confused: Just had an MOT with new pads fitted all round and garage drove the car to bed them in - mechanic said there was a noise from the engine, smoke from the exhaust again, he oowered down started it up and drove it back to garage and awitched off engine - he feels this is an engine about to throw it's hand in and suggests i don't start it up. There are places like Direct Diesel who may help with a further diagnostic but i really am at a loss. If it was engine surely it would not start up again as though nothing is wrong? Is it injectors? Help is really appreciated

:welcome2:

Doubt it is a completely knackered engine, there is normally lot sof rattles and noise before it wraps

Not heard anything good about diesle direct

You need an independant Land Rover specialist

there will someone along on here later i would think who will give you good advise on who and where to go

If you fill in your location in your profile, you may find someone offering to pop round and have a look

cool i will do that thanks for your input

go to a landrover specialist, what engine is in it? is it ford?

sounds to me like its the engine management giving up not the actual mechanical parts!!!

Might be on to something Gav...m8 had a new transit (57 plate) that started making odd engine noises accompanied by ****e mpg and lots of smoke...turned out to be the EGR valve doing stupid things and upsetting the fueling pooter.
Fixed under warranty so not exactly sure what they changed.

i bet if the op monitored the computer (there are progs and gadgets to do this) there would be a pattern to it, thus the mystery would be solved!!!

do let us know how it goes tho, if it turns out to be the egr or similar then we will all benefit. well thats as soon as the price comes down and i can buy one!!!

for the stuff to record data? dunno cos i'm not sure what engine/management software it has, if it was mine i could monitor it all and record data as it happens on my lappy. i paid 35 quid for an interface. dunno if it would work on your, it should but your a bit far for me to try it!!

read up/reasearch the engine/ems and see if you can find a cheap interface!

Are you sure it's engine related?
If you've got a dual mass flywheel that's on the way out that can give you a very lumpy tickover that clears when the revs go on.

Had an independant have a quick look and his diagnostic came back with fault on injector 1 - he's going to swap injector with #2 and see if that's the issue - if not it's a deeper look, I will keep people posted of the outcome in case others experience anything similar, i'll also reference the dual mass flywheel
