booger!
so yu can do a compression test, new head gasket and top end refurb then?
swap the turbo out for one from a rover 25/45, THEN it'll be fine for 19psi - the turbo fitted to the hippo is an older design, so not as efficient.
Decat can give a bit better turbo spool, but not much else. Considering how much the MOT is flip-flopping over old derv cats being part of the mot, I'll be keeping mine for the forseeable future (even though I've got a decat pipe sat here, lol)
Porting will give virtually no improvements on the L - only in certain circumstances can it be of use tbh. But even then, it's mild changes... and here's one I chopped up earlier for a visual reference as to why:
there's bugger-all material where you'd WANT to remove it. The port shape is already pretty damned awesome (it induces swirl, in a very efficient way) and the valve guides barely protrude into the throat. On a "normal" setup, you'd be lucky to see a 2bhp improvement tbh.
As long as the pipes don't have holes in them... why change them?
The MAF on the SDi engine is only used for the EGR, so no gains to be had with a MAFam I'm afraid
exact same setup - but the hippo pump is a slightly different spec
Rover SDi has an 11mm head, and a camplate with 2.3mm of lift (218.58mm3 of volume per stroke)
The Hippo has a 10mm head, but 3.1mm camplate lift (243.47mm3 of volume per stroke) and a vastly stronger case, as it's covered in a buttload of ribs. The servo also has more throw, to match the camplate lift.
If you want an awesome pump upgrade, fit the 11mm head from an SDi, for 294.6mm33... or in other words, a 21% increase in fuelling capacity. Would certainly be enough for 250Bhp worth of fuel, and has the potential to make running 200TDi nozzles something that would be suitable for a daily driver
