I've only had it for about 4 months. Last week I replaced the driveshaft, all the discs and pads, new oil filters etc. 3 weeks ago changed the suspension arms and bushes. I've put about £1500 into it in 4 months and now it's worthless. I'm thinking about buying a second hand engine and fitting that. I didn't know about the oil pump. Gutted
Unless you strip it down you may not know if the bits come from the pump or the crank and big end bearings.
I'm inclined to think it is more likely to be the bits around the crank, but then I am not an expert in this model!

Nor in any other!!! 🤣 🤣 🤣

I thought you said you were a novice?
Don't fink so!
(Unless you paid others to do this, of course.);););)

My friend is a mechanic at VW so we've been doing it together.

That’s very handy u have someone to turn to

When the engines do blow many fit one from an old jag S type and then swap all the ancillaries over including injectors, HPFP etc ,

Few pics as if u ask him I bet he knows about the crank issues, basically the shells spin, cut off the oil supply and bang , the crank snaps

Of the corner breaks off the oil pump, few pics for u showing the modified oil pump where it has the extra casing web

There’s also a modified tensioner bolt as that can fail as well

Why is this not covered by LR?

This is a manufacturing fault.

Would legal action be worth doing?
I think all has been tried over the years, some were successful in the early days.

Then they stroked the 2.7 to make it a 3.0, and guess what?
