Dial & Electrical mayhem whilst driving! Help

2002 P38 4.6 range rover vouge auto

Hi All

Has anyone experienced the following issues whilst driving....

whilst doing about 45 mph the traction control & ABS light came on but also at the same time the Speedo dropped to 0 and then back to correct speed a few times, all lights cut out and rev counter dropped to 0 and back again, the vehicle didn't cut out but had a few moments of madness, also the lcd display on the climate control went blank and then slowly started to display its numbers again. It seems to have settled down and not done it again and everything seems ot be working again (for now!)

Has anyone else experienced this and found out what the cause was? i dont want it to happen again so if there is an issue brewing i really want to get it caught early.

I read a post about locating and cleaning the earthing points as this can cause electrical issues but nowhere can i find anyone that has had a similar issue.

Any help appreciated!

I would suggest alternator is goosed

Have a sniff around the main fuse box under the bonnet too

Battery terminals.
Maybe consider getting your battery tested.

Look at your alternator first, costs nothing to check it out

Was the alternator on mine on both occasions this happened. New alternator resolved the problems each time.
