After some advice please regarding the best diagnostic tools for the Disco 3.
I have recently purchased the motor and have a couple of things needing doing. 1 being re programing a key and the other turning on the 4x4 info on the touch screen.
I have heard the IID tool being mentioned and after doing a search I have found many ranging from £35 up to £1500. So my question being what would I be best off buying for occasional use (I hope).
Thanks chaps/chapesses.

IID is really good, about 4/500 quid, you want the bluetooth one, they used to make an early one that used the cars dash for display, you dont want that one, the ones for 1500/2000 are the pro verison so are not vin locked.
Join the Disco3 forum, and look at their for sale section, they do come up 2nd hand for 3/350 quid, be aware you have to have somehting like 25 posts before you can post in sale section, so talk some random crap to get your numbers up ready for when/if one comes up for sale.

The Icarsoft 930 is also good and only costs circa 100 quid, it will read all the stuff the IID does, but what it does NOT do is programme.

Either tool retain a good chunk of its value when sold 2nd hand.

Thanks for the answer. So the IID is the one to look at as I want to make changes to software etc. I have had a look in the for sale thread but reckon a new one is the way to go. Do you if any other device does the same as the IID that I can take a look at?.
Regards.

I am sure there are others, the beauty of the IID is on the D3 forum every and any problem you may encounter will have been see/done/rectified, so pretty much no matter what you fek up you can get ouf of jail for free!
Plus as the IID is very popular they sell very well 2nd hand.
@gstuart is the one to ask, as hes ****ted with most of the functions of the IID, I only plug it in when I have an issue.

@lynall

meant to add, have u seen this obd2 reader , alas though don’t think it does suspension calibration, have been looking into it to see what it can do as would be a great option being just over £100

https://thinkdiag.co.uk/

So what's your opinion in on what it is I require matey?

hiya

to be honest I’ve also emailed them to see exactly what it does, as far as I’m aware it’s just been launched

there’s also an Autel AP200 if u just want a very basic scanner

https://www.autelstore.co.uk/wholesale/autel-maxiap-ap200-bluetooth-scanner.html

however as mentioned the gap iid is the rolls Royce , @lynall and I both have the gap iid and does everything ur ever need, including the suspensions calibration, cheapest place I’ve seen is island 4x4 , around £420

https://www.island-4x4.co.uk/tfiidb...agnostics-tool-bluetooth-tfiidbt-p-27303.html

but also mentioned they come up second hand on the D3 forum

also if u would be so kind to let us know the year and model of disco u have please, plus what version of satnav, included the screenshots above for u , as it may already be there but just need to double check a few things

Hope that helps a little

I have sent you a message gstuart. The main CPU Software/bootloader Version is 1042.
It is a 2007 V6 Disco.
Regards
Terry

Should come as standard with the HSE , if it nots there req something like a Gap iid or garage to activate it

So after much searching I can come to this conclusion.
The SE has the software on the vehicle for the 4x4 display but LR wanted £400 on purchase to turn it on. It is part of the vehicle but you need to turn it on.

I kind of agree but when you are stuck in the sticky stuff it is worth knowing which wheel is spinning and which is not and ground clearance. Plus if I purchase something I require everything to be working as it should be.

I genuinely cannot think what it does show, diff lock/s yes, steering wheel angle yes, not sure what else, which kind of shows how much I use it!

think the only thing that’s useful is even with mine it will show what direction ur wheels are at, haven’t got the screen but mine will show it in rock crawl mode

did think about getting the screen but satnav is well out of date and ref ground clearance I’ll just get out and check , lol

Sat nav is useful for the name of the road you are on, but that is all!
Think newest disc that is not a moody copy and works all the time is 2012.
