Disco 3 (LR3) Diagnostics

I have recently purchased a Disco 3 tdv6 2.7 and want to get some diagnostics and would like yor opinions on the different ones available.
! also own a P38 2.5 diesel which I ad untill recently a Nanacom but it was stolen while the car was in a garage having work done and I have not been able to recover it but I have sourced another one from a friend who had a defender and has since sold it so has no use for the Nanacom any more so I can purchase the unlock codes for that which I think i will do as it makes sense to have one diagnostic tool for both vehicles.
On the Range Rover forum the Nanacom seems to be the tool of choice but on this forum it is not mentioned very much at all.
The disco that i bought is in Australia where I am at the moment and the Range Rover is in the Uk where i also spend a lot of time.

The Nanocom is THE weapon of choice for the P38 and D2 but not for the D3 I don't think. I think the Gap IID Tool is the big hitter in the D3 arena.

Gstuart of this parish is quite evangelical about the Gap IID jobbie (methinks he has shares...), he can give you chapter and verse on it's pros and cons.

For the D3 there is really only one choice and thats the IID tool by Gap diagnostics, not cheap but the back up is top notch and the knowledge on the
D3/4 forum is second to none.

My Foxwell NT510 seems to work ok, and its quite cheap. I had to laugh the 1st time I connected it and did a full scan how many historic errors were on the car.

You probably get what you pay for, but I had an airbag warning light on my Disco 3 and after having it checked by an auto electrician using a diagnostic tool that apparently cost £4000 that didn’t pinpoint the problem, I bought a dedicated Landrover tool (iCarsoft i930) for £95 and sorted it out in seconds!! So I guess it’s already paid for itself.

i wish, lmao

they are indeed very good, can do virtually everything the dealers T4 can

only down side there currently £420 , 4 x visits to the dealer and it’s paid for itself

one of the main reason is u know how to use a diagnostic reader

in the same token , it was extremely rare to meet an electrician who was able to wire up a heating system
