Last August I sold my 03 TD5 manual and now more than six months later I'm regretting my decision and hankering for another.
My last TD5 I bought from my neighbour who had bought it as a 6 month old dealer demonstrator. He had it's ecu remapped at 12000 miles.

It was really quick and torquey and when I sold it last year at 81k miles the engine was really superb. I drove a "standard" 30P Discovery td5 last week and the difference is chalk and cheese.

This particular one, again an 03 plate has 74k miles behind it and it appears from the paperwork, previous MOTs and general condition that the mileage is genuine although, to be fair, the owner is willing to warrant it in writing.

I know why he is selling it. He's been told to expect big bills shortly and you all know why - fuel pressure regulator, power steering pump, wiring harness and the front power steering pipes in front of the radiator (there's the hint of a leak already) will all need replacing.

Been there, done that, got the receipts and grazed knuckles from last year.

I will be offering low this week but is it too old to be remapped?

Thank you all.

IMO a proper stage 1 remap would not harm any engine... if the engine has problems the remap would not make them worst and if it hasn't it won't make any

Hi my 2003 TD5 auto has 142k miles on it and I just got it remapped. Don't think age is a problem.
