Hi,

I’m looking to get my discovery 2 detailed and was wondering what to expect. I’m looking at around £350 but wanted to treat it to a nice clean before my drive to chamonix at Xmas. I’m putting in new headlining and fixing the leaky sunroof and was wanting the interior to have a good clean as I don’t think this has occurred since she rolled of the production line in 2002. I’ve owned it since 2015 and have taken it to the Sahara and back so there is also a bit of desert in there.

My question is is it worth a full detail? Some people tell me it will bring it back to showroom condition? I’m not convinced. Wondering if anyone else has had it done and if so if there are before and after photos?
 
Grieves me to give mine a quick Hoover, it's riffy again within a week!

I'd spend the money on something else personally, not sure well used landys are the kind of car you detail.

But if you do go ahead, pics please!

It's an old and used car so will look a lot better but never showroom condition.
To get your value out of it you would needto buy some decent cleaning gear and keep on top of it. But it's easier when it's had a really good going over.
I'd rather do it myself. I enjoy it and it makes me look at the condition of everything and can catch chips etc before they become rust.
 
Gave mine a quick polish yesterday not bad by hand lol

Hmmmmm as you say maybe i’ll just get a full valet and spend the rest on getting the alloys refurbed.

I’m going to get it wrapped soon also.

My main concern was getting the interior all nice.

Is it just me or are land rover alloys really prone to corroding inside and causing a crap seal between tyre and rim?

Couple of hours with a decent vac and some autoglym or similar will see your interior spotless ;)

I think all alloy wheels are prone to that, especially if used in wet environments.

I always fit steel wheels if I can get them, on landrovers or cars.

Stands to reason, landys probably get their wheels submerged more than other cars.
I keep looking at steel modular wheel packages but cant bring myself to change the standard look on my D2 :)

Not that keen on modulars myself. I have a set for my Ninety, but also have standard wheels with another set of tyres on. Much prefer the look of the standard ones.

For my Mondeo, I traded the alloys with low pros for steels with a regular tyre. The alloys just weren't practical for my use, I am always bouncing round the marina and other unsurfaced places. And I like not having to watch the road ahead like a hawk for potholes. The higher profile tyres give a much more comfortable ride too.
