Defender Wheel Sizes

Lots of threads on this but cant quite get what I want!
Have 1990 110 Defender, disc at front, drums at rear as standard. Original steel wheels marked up as follows:
91014
5.50Fx16x33
>1241
FV2000727
NRCC7578
Sure that means something to someone!
Want to upgrade and have been told to check the J number. What's that?!

Will any allows that have been fitted to a Defender fit mine, or what do I need to check. (Are all Defender models same PCD??)

All help appreciated

I don't quite understand the question?
As far as I know, standard steel wheels for that vehicle are available, and very reasonably priced. They were for my 89 Ninety.
If you mean you want to fit alloy wheels, I am not sure why, I always found them worse in every way.
But I think Td5 wheels fit if you use the alloy wheel nuts.
 
Just thought I should mention as I have the same Defender. Freestyle alloys will not fit your Defender. Firstly you will need spacers on the front and secondly and most importantly Freestyle are only rated for a 90 not for a 110. As mentioned above I think 110 Defenders look best with steel wheels. I would go for the Wolf type. I went for the Paddocks cheep Modular ones which didn't last. Within a year the paint was flaking off.
 
You can fit alloys and they look good on a hard working truck. If you fancy the look go for it. I had steel wolf rims on a previous truck and the paint never seems to last on them. Freestyle alloys should fit your truck but might not be able to fit the centre caps if you have the taller drive flanges in your hubs.

Just wait until the alloy corrosion starts lifting the beads and the tyres start leaking.

You could always paint the wolf rims, it isn't a big or expensive job.
 
admittedly I am a newby, so will probably get slapped down for this, but there seems to be an over-riding mindset on this site that any improvements to a vehicle are gay unnecessary or illegal. I have LED headlights on my truck and alloys.....when the headlights break, I will buy some more, they were only 120 quid from sp, I don't anticipate my alloys corroding for at least the next 10 years, if they do, I have a mate who can sand blast and respray them......sorry rant over....

Not at all. Some improvements are good. For example, I fitted locking differentials to my Ninety, because they are a useful feature off road, and fitted as standard by most other 4wd manufacturers.

But alloy wheels are something I have never seen any benefits to, even on road cars. They are weaker, more expensive, and equally prone to corrosion as steels.
I removed the alloys and low pros from my high spec Mondeo, and fitted steels and a higher profile tyre off a lower end one.
They are just better for the kind of mix of surfaced and unsurfaced that I drive on, and I don't have to watch the road ahead for pot holes like a hawk,so much less demanding of concentration.

An illegal mod is just that, if you choose to ignore that then so be it. If your lights are road legal then there is no problem is there.
The point above about the alloys is AFAIK quite correct, certain LR alloys are not specified for the rear axle loading on a 110 or 130. that may raise concerns with regard to insurance,

If you consider getting it to run and keep running as an improvement , then most of the site is about that..LOL.

If you personally want to do something then although it may be unnecessary, does not necessarily make it wrong, just personal preference.

As for gay, well that is something you should raise in AG.

But you will find most have modified there vehicles away from std to some extent to make it be better for what they want to do with it.

points noted. the finish on alloys usually lasts longer, they look smarter, in the case of the "blindo"alloys used by the mod on wmiks etc they are stronger.
i fitted alloys to my trucks because they looked smarter than the wolf rims that required regular re painting, it annoyed me that just re tightening the wheel nuts on the wolf rims would break the paint surface and lead to rust. Also if working off road, as my trucks do a lot, on heavy soils clay would build up inside the rim and throw the balance out, with alloys this is easier to clean. On a car I have no answer, I have a low spec golf with alloys, think the missus would be less than impressed if i put steelies on it;)

And the Italian Blindo wheels ( which I do like ) I would suspect are rated for 110's as the original ones as you say were fitted to MOD Landies, but Freestyle ones I would not be so sure of, not something I have bothered to look into , I assume you have as in your previous post you "recommended" them.

apologies to the op......I clearly have committed a crime....they will fit his truck I think....whether he should fit them is up to him and his research......

So it appears that your reasons for favouring alloys are mainly cosmetic.
Personally, I have little interest in the appearance of my vehicles, so long as they are tidy enough not to attract the attention of the police.
And I wouldn't humour wimmins to that extent, either! :)

Beware of making your vehicle too attractive, a glance at the Stolen Landrovers Section will show that they are also attractive to thieves.

Lubricating the wheel nuts should prevent corrosion around them.

As a minor aside, I, and I think some of the other members, find the use of the term "truck" to describe Landrovers inaccurate and misleading. Although not as bad as the term J**p, which should never be used! ;)
For me, a truck is something which delivers goods, or may be driven by US rednecks. Or something that carries goods on a railway. A Landrover is a 4 wheel drive, off road vehicle, or maybe a dual purpose vehicle.
