I have a newer transfer box which had the transducer for the leccy speedo fitted. I looked up prices for a new td5 speedo and they're ridiculously expensive. Rather than stick my old cable drive in does anyone have a td5 speedo going cheap? Ta muchly

Yeah its the original 1987 one with cable drive. As I said can just swap the cable onto the new box but wondered how easy it would be to change to a td5 speedo seeing as the transducer is already there

its possible but i wouldnt bother and havent done it

Strange.... It's a very simple job to fit the electric speedo. You just need 3 wires from behind the clocks to the box which are ground, ignition live and pulse then wire up the speedo and away you go. The connectors at the transducer end and the speedo end are available cheaply enough and the actual connections (especially if you are using just the speedo) are simplicity itself and it wasn't a lot of work. I paid £60 for binnacle, speedo, fuel gauge and clock.

You only need the Td5 speedo plus 1 speedo plug and the transducer plug off paulmc on here. There are two sockets on the speedo but if you are only using the speedo function then one plug has all the connections and it's the top one. From the side with the key held to your left pin 1 is the top left pin, 2 is below it then 3 is next to 1 and so on.

2 = to the transducer
4 = lights
7 = ground
9 = permanent live
10 = ignition live

The transducer connections are with the central key down the right pin is ignition live, the central pin is ground and the left pin is output pulse which goes to pin2 on the speedo.
