Hi all,
I've done a search but there are so many responses to this issue that it didn't help for once.
I've got a knocking coming from the underside of my Defender TD5 110sw.
It happens on mildly rough surfaces (old roads or gravel car parks) as a dull knock knock. Particularly if the steering wheel is wobbling slightly. I can't tell if its from the front or back but I can feel it in the footwell ever so slightly.
It DOESN'T happen:
At any particular speed (no difference if fast or slow.
When cornering.
Going over proper bumps like speed bumps or mini roundabouts.
On nice smooth roads.
I'm not hugely mechanically minded (yeah I know.. why have I got a defender?!) but I've had a look underneath and all I can tell is that its not the exhaust system being loose. The UJs on the propshafts are mucky after all this weather so I've given them a spray with WD40, but when it comes to ball joints, and all the arms under the engine.. I'm at a bit of a loss on what is normal and what isn't
Any help please?
