Hi, I decided to strip a TD5 defender engine after finding oil in the water. Oil cooler definitely needs replacing but not sure about the marks on the block? Do I need a replacement block?
 
Yes, what sort of marks?

Machining isn't recommended on TD5 engines, so rebores, skimming, crank regrinds and the like should be approached with caution. However, this guy claims to have skimmed a TD5 head successfully: Web Rover So maybe you can . . .
