Defender nut and bolt rebuild

Will start a new thread for the series 1 as soon as the 300tdi is completed. Declas on route
Front galv bumper arrived today, have acid eched it ready for primer and black paint.

The purist in me got the casting vote and I ended up with standard county decals, in fairness I’m glad as they just look right. Eagle eye viewers can just see in the background the new galv bumper is now painted matt black. Should be dry enough to fit tomorrow evening 😀

Sod all the nice ****. How the hell do you keep the garage floor so clean? Do you have a missis mop everyday? :p :p

Stickers look great by the way :).

You have done a fantastic job, enjoy it now.

I decided to tidy the garage and repaint the floor when the landy was away getting polished🫣 didn’t want to risk getting her dusty or dirty 😂 even bought a waterproof thermal cover as well, bought one off ebay for the series 3 they are only £40 ish but excellent for keeping them warm and dry.

fair to say the attention to detail in this build is amazing, would love to know how much you've spent £ wise!
I just hope that if anything happens to me that my wife doesn’t sell my landys for what she thinks I’ve spent on them 🫣 excluding buying the landy which I paid a little over, but worth it just for the Anglesey provenance. Parts alone it would have costed me circa £13k once I purchase the finishing items spare wheel carrier, tyre for spare wheel, spare wheel cover , sound proof bonnet liner and side steps.
However this 300tdi is as, sorry better than new no nut or bolt has been unturned. If it was for sale I would have to be looking at min £25k that would equate to a labour rate of £2.50 an hour 😁
But thankfully this is my hobby or should that be therapy! this is why I dont have a time frame or short cut on anything, if I’m not happy I redo or replace.

I'm not at all envious...........................
Hopefully this build may just inspire! My view is that anything is achievable if you put you mind to it. Failing that there’s youtube or google ! I honestly couldn’t have a lot of the work without sitting on the loo on my phone (colitis wows aside) ! 😂

i wouldn't sell it at all, it's a work of art.

your next build.. please do something like this -

you'll be famous

Thats very kind of you, it’s duly considered. I will solely blame you if its a youtube sensation 😂
If KSI ever knocks on my door for a duel I’ll blame RustyDefender ! For heaven’s sake place your bets wisely

Galvanized Front bumper painted black, dried and fitted this morning. I had to lead solder up the pre deilled holes that were in the end of the bumper as the 300tdi did not come with the plastic bumper end caps as standards these were introduced with the TD5.

SP4x4 swing away spare wheel carrier arrived yesterday didn’t like the galvanized look so decided to etch, prime and paint it blue the same colour as the landy. Here it is primed ready for painting, only problem is I’ll have to wait till Monday as I’ve run out of 2k paint hardener.
Best things come to those who wait hey !
Tyre for the spare ordered should be here Monday. I’ve also bought a spare wheel cover from a new defender, hopefully it will fit the 265 75 16? Should do. Going to paint the centre bit of the cover blue as well .

Spare wheel carrier painted, brackets fitted but going to leave the swing arm a day or two to fully harden before fitting. Have ordered some stainless bolts instead of using the BZP ones supplied.
