My drivers door will not power my lghts, any ideas please? Just had the factory alarm bypassed and another fitted and wondered if this was the cause as the earth point does still work for the alarm.

Thanks in advance

If it's the plunger type are you sure that the alarm fitter hasn't just disconnected the light wire from the switch? Either lazy or just had a blank moment.

Just a suggestion
If you use a multimeter then with the switch removed you should see 12v on the connector to the switch (assuming the opposite door operates the light OK).
Ground the connector to some bare metal and the light should operate. If it does then the switch has a poor earth to the chassis. If there is no 12V then the problem may be in the cables up to the roof light. Remove the light and check that the continuity through the light is OK as mine required some soldering to brodge a crack in the printed circuit.

i had same problem when putting in different alarm - the interior lights are wired from the alarm so that they come on when you operate the remote.

You need to wire them seperate from alarm - i took mine back to alarm man to do

Thanks for the replies.

Had to get the alarm fitter out for something else so I told him about it, among other bollocks He said that thats how it would have to be due to bypassing the factory alarm. I raised a right eyebrow and gave him a disapproving look and now it works!!

Hes managed to get the lights to come on with the new alarm now also. Dont ask me how he did it tho.
