Hi all, I'm back on LandyZone as I've recently acquired a Defender 90 200tdi 1992. RIP my old P38. I have a problem with my rear indicators. I have searched here and all over google and found many helpful threads but am now at my wits end.
The o/s rear indicator stopped working and after running new earth wire, cleaning holder, rewiring holder, replacing bulb, tidying up wiring in both rear corners inside the cheese wedge covers, using electrical tape to cover all bare metal contacts - I managed to get it working fine. Now the n/s rear indicator has stopped working! The front two are fine, just blinking twice as fast, indicating low resistance. I've checked the bulb, cleaned the contacts, re-connected the earth to the holder but still have the same problem. I've run a wonder lead from the battery to correct wire in the n/s rear cheese wedge and the bulb lights up just fine. I've connected a multi-meter to the same wire when connected as it should be and get around 5v.
Any hints or tips would be gratefully received.
If I ran a + wire from the front indicator to the rear, would I still get the low resistance double flash?
Thanks, Mr N

Hi, If you connect a lenght of wire from the front indicator to the rear, then your indicators would work normaly. I would check any exposed wiring loom for damage first, then check the connections at the bulk head and in the rear tub with a test light. I read on LZ some where about the wiring rubbing through where the loom goes through the bulk head. Start at the back and work your way forward. And good luck.

I found a poor connection in the rear o/s cheese wedge. reconnected and works a treat. There are several poor connectors which will be renewed accordingly. All good.
